"Different Class" is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Pulp, unleashed on October 30, 1995, under Island Records.
The album enjoyed both critical acclaim and commercial triumph, storming to the top of the UK Albums Chart and clinching the coveted 1996 Mercury Music Prize. Bolstered by four top-ten singles in the UK—"Common People," "Sorted for E's & Wizz," "Disco 2000," and "Something Changed"—"Different Class" swiftly attained quadruple platinum status certified by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). By 2020, it had sold a staggering 1.33 million copies in the United Kingdom alone.
Regarded as a pinnacle of the Britpop era, "Different Class" holds a revered status among music aficionados. In 2013, NME bestowed the album with the sixth spot on its prestigious list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, while Rolling Stone elevated it to number 162 in their 2020 revised version of the same list.
