Bonobo's fourth studio album, "Black Sands," debuted on March 29, 2010.
While endeavoring to uphold the intricate essence of his previous works, (Simon) Green propels his artistry to the forefront. Following the meandering prelude, the listener is thrust into the bassline-driven "Kiara," where Bonobo explores new creative avenues with flourishing arpeggios and sharply sliced vocals. "Eyesdown" pulses with a captivating two-step beat, skillfully intertwining the vocals of Andreya Triana, known for her soothing tones showcased in Flying Lotus' "Tea Leaf Dancers" and Mr. Scruff's "Hold On." Like a polished Burial track, fragmented phrases emerge amidst pulsating bass, demanding attention. Similarly, "1009" introduces glitching synths that pierce through the ambiance, transforming it from mere background noise to a captivating focal point.
